TikTok users file lawsuit to block ban in US state

Five TikTok users in Montana who create content posted on the short-video app filed a lawsuit in US federal court seeking to block the state’s new ban on the platform. Montana governor Greg Gianforte on Wednesday signed legislation to ban TikTok, effective January 1. The users seek to block the law, which makes it unlawful for Google and Apple app stores to offer TikTok within the state. TikTok could face fines for each violation and additional sanctions of $10,000 (about R193,000) a day.
