● Bridgestone has appointed Jacques Fourie as vicepresident and MD of the Middle East & Africa region and Jacques Rikhotso as MD of the company’s South African wholesale business.

Fourie is the CEO of Bridgestone Southern Africa, having joined in 2019.

Fourie said: “I am grateful and humbled by this new opportunity to take on broader responsibility.”

Rikhotso joined Bridgestone in 2018 as manufacturing director responsible for its plant facilities across South Africa and rose to operations director responsible for the Southern African manufacturing and retread plants, logistics and supply chain management.

Rikhotso said: “I joined at a time of organisational transformation followed by the pandemic which necessitated we were more dynamic in our operations.”

● MiWay Insurance has appointed Christiaan Marais head of actuarial.

He has more than 15 years’ experience in actuarial risk management, health economics and health insurance and has been a member of MiWay’s actuarial department for almost nine years. He was actuarial manager of product design and pricing for the past four-and-a-half years.

He is an associate member of the Actuarial Society of South Africa and holds an MSc in mathematical statistics.

● Shobana Maikoo has been appointed head of TransUnion’s Global Capability Centre (GCC) Africa.

Maikoo has more than 20 years’ experience in operations management in recruitment and staffing industries. She has completed a senior management development programme from the University of Stellenbosch Business School, a postgraduate diploma in business management from Henley Business School South Africa and a management advancement programme from Wits Business School.
