● SA Breweries (SAB) has appointed Richard Rivett-Carnac CEO.

He has 13 years’ experience in various roles within the AB InBev group, having joined SABMiller in the London office as part of the mergers & acquisitions team in 2009. More recently, he was the vice-president for finance, legal & corporate affairs for AB InBev’s Africa zone. He has a bachelor of business science degree and is a member of the South African Institute of Chartered Accountants.

“I couldn’t be prouder to lead the team into an exciting new future,” Rivett-Carnac said.

● Ogilvy PR has appointed Samantha Presbury as its national MD.

Presbury joins Ogilvy from MSL, where she was MD for six years. Before that, she was head of strategy and business development at Magna Carta (TBWA) for 10 years. She also ran global public relations for IT solutions group Dimension Data for five years.

Ogilvy SA CEO Pete Case said: “We are proud to welcome Samantha aboard and are confident she will help us make a real difference for our clients and for our business.”

● Sizile Mabaso has been appointed CEO of Read Educational Trust, an NGO that operates in the education and literacy sectors, specifically in educator development and the provision of school resources.

Mabaso is a qualified teacher, has a BCom in economics and an honours degree in political science. She has worked as a high school teacher, in the government, and in NGOs and corporate donor trusts, and has run her own consulting business.

Mabaso said: “Illiteracy is one of our country’s most serious problems, stunting individual progress and SA’s growth.”
