ABOUT ZENDAYA

She was born in Oakland, California, on September 1 1996

Her first role was as a silkworm in a school production of ‘James and the Giant Peach’. She didn’t have any lines.

Zendaya got her big break when she was 14 years old starring as Rocky Blue in the Disney Channel series ‘Shake It Up’, alongside Bella Thorne. The show ran from 2010 to 2013.

At 19, Zendaya starred in another Disney Channel Original Series, ‘K.C. Undercover’, playing a super-smart girl-turned-spy. She also produced the show.

She has released a number of albums and has competed in the 16th season of ‘Dancing with the Stars’, but as if that isn’t enough, she’s also published a book, ‘Between U and Me: How to Rock Your Tween Years with Style and Confidence’.

After standing up for herself and defending her hairstyle at the 2015 Oscars, Mattel created a Barbie doll modelled after her red-carpet look.

In 2017, Zendaya made her debut in the Marvel Universe when she joined the cast o’f ‘Spider-Man: Homecoming’ as MJ. She also appeared in the 2019 sequel, SpiderMan: Far From Home’ and 2021’s ‘Spider-Man: No Way Home’.

Good practise for ‘Spider-Man’, she did most of her own stunts when she starred in the popular musical ‘The Greatest Showman’ in 2017.

In 2020, the 24-year-old became the youngest woman ever to take home the Emmy for outstanding actress in a drama series for her role as Rue in ‘Euphoria’. She is only the second black actress to win in the category. The first was Viola Davis.
